Side Sleep technology BV
SIDE SLEEP TECHNOLOGIES BV is a Dutch digital health startup using the latest wearable technology to train people to sleep on their side to improve their sleep quality and reduce health problems during the night.
We believe that great sleep helps you to live fully and be the best version of yourself. For this reason, we leverage on the latest wearable technology to create solutions that are research-based, affordable, easy to use, and non-invasive.
Mission
To offer an efficacious patented non-invasive solution that will eliminate nighttime heartburn reflux symptoms by using sleep positional therapy
Our first release
Our first release, the Snooor Anti-Snoring wearable using the principles of positioning therapy combined with wearable technology, was developed to train positional (back) snorers to sleep on their side so they can breathe more freely and stop snoring!
Our second release
Our second release is the Left Device which trains people suffering from acid reflux to sleep on their left side so the stomach is positioned below the esophagus and gravity works to keep acid in the stomach and the pain goes away.
Our latest innovation
Our latest innovation is The Left App that tracks sleeping body position on the apple watch to train users sleeping more on their left side.

JULIA ROHDE
Biomedical Engineer, Economist & Psychologist Experience in healthcare: Being in the medical field for more than 17 years in various commercial and Business Development roles: Preventicus (Global Business Dev), Cardionovum (Global Commercial lead) Medtronic (EMEA, Business Development, Reimbusement Germany) Invatec (Global sales & Marketing role, acquired by Medtronic, M&A; Lead during acquisition)
MYKOLA SHARHAN
Mykola has over 6 years in software development with focus in algorithms development, ML and optimization for embedded devices. From 2016 to 2018 he was responsible for developing motion engine in Ring.com (acquired by Amazon). Mykola got M.S. degree in Computer Science (NTUU “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering).
MANUEL BARTSCHT
More than 15 years of experience in the Life Sciences sector as CFO of medium-sized companies and start-ups. Proven track record of financing and growing new businesses. Strong background in financial modelling and M&A.; Last exit in January 2015 PneumRx acquired by BTG plc. Manuel was Managing Director of 3 BTG subsidiaries before joining Side Sleep Technologies.
IDAN VELLEMAN
An entrepreneur with 20 years of commercial experience in the hospitality and tech industry. He worked at various business development and sales positions at Booking.com, PriceMatch (acquired by Booking), TravelClick, and Radisson. Idan was also one of the founders of a SaaS revenue management software that catered to the hotel industry. Idan graduated from Hotelschool The Hague with a BA in Hospitality Administration and Management (NL).
JAN-WILLEM VAN DER WAL
Jan-Willem van der Wal is co-owner and co-founder of Medical Measurement Systems B.V. in The Netherlands. He has a degree in electronics and computer science and is involved in clinical aspects of development of new products and clinical evaluation of equipment and software. He is also a frequently asked speaker and clinical trainer for Urodynamic and Gastroenterology investigations. He is working as an Clinical Consultant for Laborie.
PROF. ARJAN BREDENOORD
Prof. Bredenoord is active for over 15 years in the field of neurogastroenterology and reflux disease and eosinophilic esophagitis in the Netherlands. He is author of over 250 articles, books, chapters and guidelines in his field in Asia and the USA. Prof. Bredenoord is president of the European Society for Eosinophilic Esophagitis and chair of the Dutch Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society and editor of the journal Neurogastroenterologie and Motility.
MICHIEL ALESSIE
Medtech serial entrepreneur and boarded sleep specialist, actively treating OSAS (Sleep Apnea) patients Last exit March 2018 Sleep.ai acquired by SleepscoreLabs. Michiel was VP at SleepScore Labs (a joint venture with Resmed) before starting Side Sleep Technologies. In depth knowledge about digital health and startups. Participated in 2 digital health accelerators Rockstart Europe (2015) and Startup Health, NY, (2016).
